- Hello and welcome to Lites of Avalon. If you toured our cyber-kingdom, we hope it enlightened your heart and life with happiness.
We, the candle and soap maidens on the Isle, have enjoyed making candles and soap for six years. We hand make, hand pour, and hand package all products. Our candles are made with quality waxes, (mixture of paraffin and soy), and quality fragrance oils. The soaps are composed of fresh goats milk, vegetable oils, and animal fats (lard/tallow). These are cured for 4-6 weeks to insure a hard, luscious, luxurious lathering bar of soap.
We are proud to be of Czech heritage: alias Czech Texans. Our specialty candle is the Kolache Candle®. A kolache is a Czech pasty known as a wedding cake. These delicious, dainty pastries were served at weddings back in the old days. The pastry is composed of sweet yeast bread with a fruit filling. Our Kolache Candle® is made to represent these tasty pastries. Please don’t eat.☺
We are often asked how Lites of Avalon originated. Our younger sister wrote a poem, “Isle of Avalon”, (published on this website) thus embracing us with its mystery and intrigue; therefore, Lites of Avalon was born. As history cites, the inhabitants of King Arthur’s day, those before and those after, used candles for light ~ hence Lites of Avalon. Now about using soap ~ maybe or maybe not . As the legend continues, it avers that Joseph of Arimathea and his son, Josephus, built the first chapel on the Isle, dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Glastonbury Abby, Avalon, was the first Christian holy place in Britain; some of the ruins still exist.
